Dr Uzma Khan is a Consultant in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and metabolism, currently working at Apollo Medical Centre, Sugar Clinic, Kondapur. She has an overall clinical experience of 20 years.
She manages diabetes, obesity, thyroid, and other hormone-related disorders. She completed MBBS and post-graduation- MD in General Medicine from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh.
After acquiring MRCP(UK), she moved to the UK to work under the NHS. She received a Specialty Certificate in Endocrinology & Diabetes from the Royal College of Physicians and pursued a PG Diploma in Endocrinology and an MSc in Endocrinology from the University of South Wales, UK.
She is SCOPE certified for Obesity management from the World Obesity Federation. Dr Khan has wide clinical exposure and experience in managing Endocrine disorders including diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, and other endocrine disorders including pituitary, adrenal, parathyroid, and reproductive endocrinology (hormone-related fertility problems, hypogonadism, PCOS, etc.).
She believes in an evidence-based approach to managing endocrine and related disorders. She has worked in tertiary Endocrine referral units in the UK which are also ENETs accredited Centres of Excellence.
She has been a member of the multidisciplinary teams for tumours of the adrenals, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, and other rare endocrine cancers. She also has research experience as an investigator in phase II and phase III randomized controlled trials in obesity, diabetes (including cardiovascular outcome trials), and other endocrine and metabolic disorders.
She was part of a multidisciplinary weight management team under the NHS and worked in combined tier 3 (medical) & tier 4 (surgical/bariatric) services for the management of obesity.
