The 3M Littmann Classic III Stethoscope is a diagnostic instrument designed for acoustic assessment. It features a dual-sided chestpiece constructed from precision-machined stainless steel, offering both an adult and a pediatric diaphragm. This design allows for versatile auscultation across different patient populations and anatomical locations.
The tunable diaphragm technology enables the user to discern high and low-frequency sounds by adjusting the pressure applied to the chestpiece. Light pressure facilitates the detection of low-frequency sounds, while firmer pressure is used for higher frequencies. The pediatric side of the chestpiece can be converted into a traditional open bell by replacing the diaphragm with a non-chill sleeve, further expanding its utility.
The single-lumen tubing is engineered for durability and resistance to skin oils and alcohol, contributing to a longer lifespan. This material composition also excludes natural rubber latex and phthalate plasticizers, aligning with health and environmental considerations. The headset is adjustable for personalized fit and comfort during extended use.
The overall construction prioritizes acoustic sensitivity for effective physical assessment and diagnosis. The stethoscope is 27 inches in length and weighs approximately 150 grams. It is available in a black tube color with a standard chestpiece.
