Aacef injection contains ceftriaxone, an antibiotic belonging to the Cephalosporin class. It is indicated for the treatment of severe bacterial infections affecting various body systems, including the brain, lungs, ear, stomach, urinary tract, joints, and skin. It is also utilized in surgical procedures to prevent potential post-operative infections.
Ceftriaxone exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, which is essential for bacterial survival and replication, thereby leading to the elimination of the infection-causing bacteria. Administration of Aacef injection occurs in a hospital environment under the direct supervision of a medical professional, such as a doctor or nurse. It is administered either as an intravenous infusion (drip) or as a direct injection into a vein or a muscle.
Self-administration of this medication is not advised. The appropriate dosage is determined by the healthcare provider based on the specific infection and its severity.
