Alerid-D tablet is a combination medicine containing cetirizine and phenylephrine. Cetirizine has anti allergic properties and phenylephrine is a decongestant. Alerid-D tablet relieves symptoms of common cold, allergy, hay fever, and pollen grains/dust allergies.
It treats a runny nose, sneezing, itching of the eyes, nose or throat, red eyes, and water from the eyes. It also decreases nasal blockage. Cetirizine stops the action of a substance called histamine, a chemical formed in the body in certain allergic conditions.
Phenylephrine works by narrowing the blood vessels causing relief in nasal congestion.
Symptoms of an overdose of Alerid-D tablet include confusion, loose motions, dizziness, fatigue, headache, weakness, itching, restlessness, sleepiness, irritability, nausea, vomiting, and thirst. If you have taken too much of this medicine then contact your doctor or reach out to the nearest hospital immediately.
If you have missed taking any dose of this medicine then take it as soon as you remember. If it's already time for the next dose then skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule.
There is limited information on the effect of the Alerid-D tablet in pregnancy. It is recommended to avoid taking Alerid-D tablet in pregnancy unless prescribed by your doctor.
Alerid-D tablet may pass into human breast milk. It is recommended to avoid taking Alerid-D tablet during breastfeeding unless prescribed by your doctor.
Alerid-D tablet may cause dizziness or drowsiness. If you experience any such side effects after taking this medicine, it is advised to avoid driving.
Consuming alcohol with Alerid-D tablet can cause sleepiness, dizziness, and difficulty in concentration. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medicine.
