Alrista Sr Tablet contains epalrestat, an aldose reductase inhibitor, used in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
In case of an overdose, contact your physician immediately for medical support.
If you miss a dose of Alrista Sr Tablet, skip it and continue your regular routine. Do not take two doses.
Epalrestat reduces oxidative stress, increasing glutathione levels, and reducing intracellular sorbitol accumulation. This helps to reduce secondary complications of diabetes, specifically in tissues in which glucose uptake is not insulin-dependent.
Alrista Sr Tablet are to be administered orally with a glass of water.
In pregnant women, there are no sufficient or well-controlled trials. This medicine should only be taken during pregnancy if necessary.
Alrista Sr Tablet is not known to be excreted in human milk. Alrista Sr Tablet should be taken with caution by a breastfeeding woman as prescribed by the physician.
Alrista Sr Tablet does not have any effects on driving abilities.
Effects of Alrista Sr Tablet with alcohol are not known. It's best to consult your doctor for the same.
Talk to your doctor if
Store Alrista Sr Tablet at room temperature (20-25°C). Keep away from children and pets. Keep in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight and excess moisture.
Alrista Sr Tablet can cause liver impairment. Close monitoring of liver function is recommended.
It is best to discuss with your physician about any possible drug interactions of epalrestat and herbal medicines before using both together.
No habit forming tendencies have been reported with epalrestat.
