Amlopres-AT is a medication used to treat high blood pressure and chest pain (angina). It combines amlodipine and atenolol to lower blood pressure, heart rate, and the force of your heartbeat. People with kidney or liver problems and the elderly should use this medication with caution.
Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor, at the same time each day, with or without food. Do not stop taking it without consulting your doctor, as uncontrolled high blood pressure can have serious consequences. Inform your doctor about any existing medical conditions, especially if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
A combination of atenolol and amlodipine as active substances is also present in the following tablets: Amlokind AT tablet , Amodep AT , Amlovas AT 50 and Amlopres AT 50 .
Symptoms of an overdose of Amlopres-AT tablet include laziness, low blood pressure, and low blood sugar level. In case of an overdose, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
If you have missed taking any dose of Amlopres-AT tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of this medicine to compensate for the missed one.
Do not take Amlopres-AT tablet if you are pregnant or planning for a pregnancy. If you get pregnant while taking this medicine, inform your doctor.
It is not advised to breastfeed during the treatment with Amlopres-AT tablet.
You should be cautious while driving if you are taking Amlopres-AT tablet. You may feel dizzy and sleepy after taking this medicine. Therefore, it is better to avoid driving.
Avoid consuming alcohol when you are taking Amlopres-AT tablet as it is known to cause low blood pressure.
Talk to your doctor if
Amlopres AT 50 mg tablets can be taken with or without food. Grapefruit, apple, and orange juice should be avoided for at least 4 hours after taking this medicine as it can affect the absorption of Amlopres-AT tablet.
Do not stop taking Amlopres-AT tablet until and unless your doctor advises you. If you stop taking this medicine, it can lead to a sudden increase in your blood pressure, which can be very dangerous. The doctor will gradually decrease the dose as per the need.
Take as prescribed by the doctor for the prescribed duration. Take the medicine with or without food, but during the day and at a fixed time to gain optimal benefit.
It takes approximately 1 hour for this medicine to start showing its blood pressure lowering effects. However, this can vary among individual depending on their physiology and metabolism.
Weight gain is not a common side-effect of Amlopress-AT. There might be water retention that leads to swelling on the legs and ankles, which may mimic weight gain. Consult the doctor if you feel you are gaining weight while on the medicine.
If you stop taking medicines before the prescribed dosage duration, even if you feel better, you can suffer from chest pain, irregular heartbeat or heart attack. Your doctor might tell you to decrease the dose gradually. Don't suddenly stop taking Amlopres-AT tablet without talking to your doctor.
Yes, you may feel dizzy after taking Amlopres-AT tablet as a result of a decrease in blood pressure effect. You may experience this symptom when you suddenly rise up from a lying or sitting position. It is advised to rise up slowly if you have been sitting or lying down to lower the chance of feeling dizzy. Also, avoid driving or be cautious while on this medicine.
