Ancef Dry Syrup contains Cefixime, an antibiotic belonging to the Cephalosporin class. This medication is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections affecting the throat, lungs, ear, urinary tract, and skin. Cefixime functions by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, which leads to the death of susceptible bacterial organisms.
This product is specifically formulated for pediatric use and should not be administered to individuals above 18 years of age. Prior to administration, the powder must be reconstituted by dissolving it in sterile water according to the provided directions, followed by thorough shaking. The prescribed dosage and duration of treatment should be strictly followed.
Common adverse effects associated with Ancef Dry Syrup include diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, and gas. If side effects persist or the child's condition deteriorates, medical consultation is advised.
If a dose of Ancef Dry Syrup is missed, administer it as soon as it is remembered. If it is nearly time for the subsequent scheduled dose, omit the missed dose and continue with the regular dosing schedule. Do not administer a double dose to compensate for a missed one.
Cefixime in Ancef Dry Syrup acts by inhibiting the formation and growth of bacterial cell wall which eventually leads to the death of the bacteria responsible for causing infection.
Consult a doctor if:
The reconstituted suspension of Ancef Dry Syrup should be stored in refrigerator. Content should be used within 7 days. Later, discard off the remaining portion of medicine.
If your child vomits within 30 minutes of administering Ancef Dry Syrup, you need to give the same dose again.
Ancef Dry Syrup is used to treat various bacterial infections such as throat, ear, tonsils, airways, lungs, urinary tract and skin.
