It is composed of plain catgut, a material derived from the submucosa of ovine intestines, which undergoes a process of purification and sterilization. This suture is classified as Type A, meaning it is derived from animal collagen.
The suture is presented in a USP size of 4-0, indicating its diameter and tensile strength. Each individual suture strand measures 76 centimeters in length, providing ample material for various surgical procedures. The suture is pre-attached to a 16 millimeter needle, which is a 3/8 circle configuration with a cutting point.
