Augmentin Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine used to treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is specially formulated for children and should always be given under adult supervision. You may give Augmentin Dry Syrup to your child with or without food; however, administering it with food is recommended to improve absorption and reduce the risk of stomach upset.

Your doctor may advise giving it two to three times daily. The exact dose and frequency depend on the type and severity of the infection, as well as your child’s age and body weight. Always follow the prescribed dose, schedule, and method of administration.

If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, allow them to settle and then repeat the same dose. It is advised not to miss any dose of antibiotics as it can affect the treatment regimen. If you have missed giving any dose of Augmentin Dry Syrup, then give it as soon as you remember. If it's already time for the next dose, then skip the missed dose and follow the regular dosing schedule.

How Does It Work?

Augmentin Dry Syrup works by the combined action of both its components - amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin works by killing the bacteria responsible for infections. However, the bacteria make the enzyme (beta-lactamases) which can destroy amoxicillin. Clavulanic acid inactivates this enzyme and hence helps amoxicillin to perform its function.
