B Kof Syrup is indicated for the management of wet cough associated with conditions such as asthma and infections of the airways, lungs, and throat, including bronchitis. This type of cough often presents with symptoms like chest tightness, spasms, mucus accumulation, wheezing, and difficulty in expelling phlegm. The syrup is a combination of three active ingredients: bromhexine, guaifenesin, and terbutaline.
Bromhexine functions as a mucolytic agent, guaifenesin as an expectorant, and terbutaline as a bronchodilator. The combined action of these components helps to thin, liquefy, and loosen mucus, facilitating its expulsion. Additionally, it aids in relaxing the airways, which can ease breathing.
Administration should follow a doctor's prescription regarding dosage and duration. Current health advisories recommend against prescribing or dispensing cough and cold medications to children under two years of age. Generally, these medications are not advised for children under five years old.
For children above this age, use should be based on a thorough clinical evaluation and close medical supervision.
Symptoms of an overdose of B Kof Syrup include abdominal pain, nausea, dry mouth, fits, fast heartbeat and drowsiness. In case of an overdose, reach out to your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
If you missed any dose of B Kof Syrup, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the scheduled time. Do not take a double dosage to compensate for the missed dose.
It is not advised to take B Kof Syrup during pregnancy. Your doctor can prescribe you this if required and if the potential benefit outweighs the risk to the foetus.
It is advised not to breastfeed during the treatment with B Kof Syrup as it may harm the newborn baby.
B Kof Syrup can cause dizziness or drowsiness. Be cautious while driving or operating any machinery.
Alcohol intake, along with B Kof Syrup, can make you more drowsy or dizzy. Try to avoid alcohol during the treatment.
