Birlotib Tablet is an anticancer medicine that is used to treat non-small cell lung cancer and pancreatic cancer. It contains erlotinib as its active component that belongs to the group of medicines known as kinase inhibitors. It works by inhibiting the activity of a protein called epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) which is responsible for the growth and spread of cancer cells.
This medicine should be taken as directed by the doctor and in the exact dose and duration as prescribed. Do not stop taking this medicine, even if you start feeling better after taking this medicine. Before taking Birlotib Tablet, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history.
Overdose of Birlotib Tablet may cause increased side effects. In case of an overdose, contact your doctor or reach out to your nearest hospital as soon as possible. Try to carry the pack of the medicine to make overdose assessment easier for doctor/hospital staff.
Birlotib Tablet acts by targeting the proteins EGFR (epidermal growth factor) in cancer cells and stops the cancer cells from growing. In this way, it prevents the spread of cancerous cells.
Birlotib Tablet is not recommended for use during pregnancy. So it is advised to proper contraceptive methods while taking this medicine and for at least 2 weeks after taking the last dose of it, to avoid pregnancy.
Birlotib Tablet is not recommended to breastfeed during the treatment and for at least 2 weeks after taking the last dose of this medicine.
It is unlikely that this medicine will affect your ability to drive. However, do not drive until you know how Birlotib Tablet affects you.
