Actilyse injection contains a medicine called alteplase. The injection contains a solution that can be used as an injection or for an infusion. It is used for treatment of heart attacks, stroke or blood vessel blockage in the lungs.
Overdose with this injection is usually treated with fresh plasma administration to the patient.
Since Actilyse injection is used in critical conditions or emergencies, there are no chances of missed dosage.
The alteplase present in this injection is a protein. It acts by dissolving clots that have formed in blood vessels and the blood supply is restored.
It is not clear if Actilyse is completely safe in pregnant women. Hence, the benefit must be greater than the potential harm if this injection needs to be used.
It is not known if alteplase passes into the breast milk. The doctor should decide based on the need of the patient and the risk.
You should ask the doctor if you will be able to drive properly after taking this injection.

Store in dry place away from light. Store at room temperature below 25 °C. After reconstitution, it can remain stable for up to 24 hours at 2-8°C. It should, however, be used immediately after reconstitution.
Actilyse has not been associated with any fertility issues and a doctor must be consulted for the best advice in this regard.

The liver is a major organ that converts the medicine alteplase into products that can be excreted out of the body. Hence, if the liver is not working properly, it can cause toxicity of alteplase and produce harmful effects.
