The BPL 120/80 B17 is an automated digital blood pressure monitor designed for the measurement of systolic and diastolic blood pressure, as well as pulse rate. It operates using the oscillometric method, which detects oscillations in blood flow within the brachial artery. The device features a universal cuff, measuring 22 by 32 centimeters, designed to fit a range of arm circumferences.
This cuff is applied to the upper arm and inflates to temporarily restrict blood flow, allowing the device to measure the pressure changes as the cuff deflates. The measurements are then displayed on a 3.5-inch digital LCD screen, which includes indicators for time and date.
A key feature of this monitor is its irregular heartbeat (IHB) indicator, which alerts the user if an abnormal heart rhythm is detected during measurement. The device also incorporates an incorrect cuff wrapping alert and an alert for incorrect usage, aiming to ensure the accuracy of the readings. For user convenience and data tracking, the BPL 120/80 B17 offers multiple memory sets, with each set capable of storing up to 99 readings.
This allows for individual tracking of blood pressure trends over time. The monitor also includes an auto power-off function to conserve battery life and a WHO blood pressure classification indicator, which provides a visual reference for the measured blood pressure against established guidelines.
This digital blood pressure monitor is suitable for use by a variety of individuals, including patients for self-monitoring at home, as well as medical professionals in clinical settings such as doctor's offices, clinics, and hospitals. Caregivers may also utilize the device to monitor the blood pressure of individuals under their care. The straightforward operation and clear display make it accessible for users of different technical proficiencies.
The inclusion of a large LCD with a backlight enhances readability, particularly in low-light conditions.
Typical applications for the BPL 120/80 B17 include routine blood pressure monitoring for individuals managing hypertension, monitoring for potential cardiovascular issues, and general health checks. It can be used for regular tracking of blood pressure trends, allowing for timely intervention if readings fall outside the desired range. The device's portability, with an item weight of 200 grams, makes it suitable for both stationary and mobile use.
Important usage notes include ensuring the cuff is applied correctly to the upper arm, as indicated by the device's alerts. Users should remain still and quiet during measurement to obtain accurate results. The device is powered by either four AA alkaline batteries or via a USB Type-C connection, offering flexibility in power sources.
Users should periodically check the battery level and recharge or replace batteries as needed, as indicated by the low battery alert. The device should be handled with care and kept away from children. Damaged packaging should not be used.
