Prolide Injection contains Leuprorelin (also called leuprolide) as its active ingredient. It is used to treat prostate cancer in men. In women, it is used for the treatment of uterine fibroids and endometriosis (a condition that causes symptoms like painful periods, excessive bleeding, pain while passing urine, etc).
It is also used to treat very early puberty in children. This medicine will be given to you in a hospital or clinic by a doctor or nurse as an injection. You should avoid self-injecting.
Before using Prolide Injection, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history.
Prolide Injection will be given to you by a doctor or nurse. Therefore, it is less likely that you may get an overdose of this medicine. If you experience any other symptoms right after taking this injection, seek urgent medical help.
You will be monitored by the doctor or nurse as to when Prolide Injection should be given to you. It is unlikely that the dose will be missed. However, if you think your doctor or nurse might have missed a dose, inform them.
Leuprorelin in Prolide Injection works by lowering the levels of testosterone (in men) and estrogen (in women) in the body.
Prolide Injection must not be used during pregnancy as there is limited information available in pregnant women. If you get pregnant while on treatment, discontinue using this medicine and immediately contact your doctor. Proper birth control measures should be taken while on treatment.
Prolide Injection should not be used while breastfeeding as there is limited safety information available. Please consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Prolide Injection may blur your vision and make you dizzy, you should avoid driving if you do not feel well or are unable to be alert.
You should avoid consuming alcohol while on treatment with Prolide Injection.
