Doxcef Cv 200 tablet is an antibiotic medicine used for the treatment of bacterial infections associated with respiratory tract and urinary tract infections. It contains a combination of cefpodoxime and clavulanic acid. This tablet should be taken as directed by the doctor and in the correct doses and for the exact duration as prescribed.
It should be taken with food to avoid stomach discomfort. Complete the entire course of Doxcef cv 200 to prevent the risk of re-infection.
Symptoms of an overdose include nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
It is advisable not to miss any dose of antibiotics as it can fail therapy. If you have missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. Do not take a double dose of the medicine to compensate for the missed one.
Cefpodoxime controls the growth of bacteria and kills them by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. However, the bacteria make an enzyme (beta-lactamases) that can destroy cefpodoxime. Clavulanic acid inactivates this enzyme and hence helps cefuroxime to function optimally.
This medicine should be taken as directed by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water, after your meal to avoid stomach discomforts. Do not cut, break or chew the medicine. It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results. You should not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.
As there is limited information about the use of Doxcef Cv 200 tablet during pregnancy, consult your doctor if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby before starting this tablet.
Components of this medicine are known to pass into the breastmilk but in small amounts. However, it can be used while breastfeeding. In case of diarrhoea or mucosal fungal infection in the breastfed baby, consult your doctor for further information.
It is advisable not to drive or use machines when you have taken this medicine as it may cause dizziness.
There is no known interaction between alcohol and Doxcef Cv 200 tablet. However, it is essential to consult your physician if you have a habit of drinking regularly.
