Periace tablet is an ACE inhibitor used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure and reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke. Pregnancy

Can I take Periace tablet during pregnancy?

Periace tablet is not recommended in early pregnancy and must not be taken when more than three months pregnant, as it may cause serious harm to the baby if used after the 3rd month of pregnancy. Consult your doctor before taking Periace tablet.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Periace tablet while breastfeeding?

Periace tablet is not recommended for mothers who are breast-feeding.

Driving

Can I drive if I have consumed Periace tablet?

If you feel dizzy or weak as a result of low blood pressure after taking Periace tablet, do not drive or operate any machinery.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with Periace tablet?

Alcohol consumption should be avoided because it increases the risk of low blood pressure, dizziness, and lightheadedness.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if

You have aortic stenosis (narrowing of the main blood vessel leading from the heart) or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (heart muscle disease) or renal artery stenosis (narrowing of the artery supplying the kidney with blood).
You have any other heart or liver problems.
You have kidney problems, or if you are receiving dialysis.
You have abnormally increased levels of a hormone called aldosterone in your blood (primary aldosteronism).
You suffer from a collagen vascular disease (disease of the connective tissue) such as systemic lupus erythematosus or scleroderma.
You have diabetes.
You are on a salt-restricted diet or use salt substitutes which contain potassium.
You are to undergo anaesthesia and/or major surgery.
You are to undergo LDL apheresis (which is the removal of cholesterol from your blood by a machine).
You are going to have desensitization treatment to reduce the effects of an allergy to bee or wasp stings.
You have recently suffered from diarrhoea or vomiting or are dehydrated.
You have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars.
You are taking any of the following medicines used to treat high blood pressure: an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) (also known as sartans—for example, valsartan, telmisartan, irbesartan), particularly if you have diabetes-related kidney problems.
If you are taking any of the following medicines, the risk of angioedema may be increased: racecadotril, medicines used for organ transplant rejection or cancer, Vildagliptin for diabetes, and Sacubitril (combined with valsartan) for long-term heart failure.

Dosage

Overdose

If you accidentally take too much of Periace tablet, please consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. The most common symptom of an overdose is low blood pressure, which can make you feel dizzy or faint.

Missed a Dose

If you miss a dose of this medicine, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

How Does It Work?

Periace tablet inhibits the activity of an enzyme called angiotensin-converting enzyme, which causes constriction of blood vessels, resulting in improved blood flow throughout the body.
