This product is a sterile, synthetic, absorbable monofilament suture designed for approximation of soft tissues. The suture material is polyglecaprone 25, a copolymer of glycolide and caprolactone. It is presented in an undyed form, which can be advantageous in certain surgical fields where visibility of the suture line is critical.
The suture is absorbable, undergoing hydrolysis in biological tissues over a period of approximately 91 to 119 days. Its tensile strength retention is approximately 50% to 60% at 7 days post-implantation and 20% to 30% at 14 days, indicating a predictable loss of strength as tissue healing progresses. The suture diameter conforms to USP 5-0 standards, representing a fine gauge suitable for delicate tissue closure.
