Eticholic Tablet is used to treat a liver disease that gradually destroys the bile ducts in the liver. It contains obeticholic acid as the active substance that works by reducing the production of a substance called bile. Eticholic Tablet is to be used in adults only.
This medicine should be used exactly as recommended by your doctor. Do not take this medicine on your own.
The symptoms of overdose of Eticholic Tablet are itching, swelling of belly due to fluid build-up and jaundice. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
If you missed any dose of the medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one.
Eticholic Tablet works by attaching to certain proteins in the liver and gut that control the production of a substance called bile. This reduces the production of bile in the liver and prevents it from building up and damaging the liver tissue.
There is limited information about the effect of Eticholic Tablet in pregnant women. Thus, it is recommended not to use Eticholic Tablet in pregnancy.
