Febuxor tablet contains febuxostat, an active ingredient used to manage hyperuricemia, a condition characterized by high levels of uric acid in the blood. This condition is commonly associated with gout, where excess uric acid forms crystals that deposit in joints, leading to acute episodes of pain, swelling, redness, and warmth. Febuxostat works by inhibiting xanthine oxidase, an enzyme responsible for uric acid production.
By reducing uric acid formation, it helps prevent crystal buildup in joints and maintains uric acid balance. Regular use, as prescribed, aims to reduce the frequency and severity of gout attacks. The tablet should be taken strictly as directed by a physician.
Dosage and treatment duration are determined by factors such as baseline uric acid levels, age, and co-existing medical conditions. Do not discontinue or alter the dosage without medical advice. Periodic blood tests may be necessary to monitor uric acid levels and assess treatment response.
Patients should inform their doctor about any history of heart disease, liver or kidney problems, or known drug allergies before starting treatment. Disclosure of all current medications is important to avoid potential drug interactions.
Seek urgent medical help in case you have consumed too much of the Febuxor tablet.

Chronic hyperuricemia is a condition of elevated uric acid levels in the body. It leads to the deposition of uric acid crystals in joints and tissues causing redness, swelling, stiffness, feeling of warmth and tenderness.
It is usually caused due to an unhealthy lifestyle that includes intake of food rich in purine (your body breaks down purine to form uric acid), alcohol, fructose (a type of sugar), certain medicines, etc. People who are obese and have certain medical conditions such as diabetes, poor kidney function, high blood pressure and metabolic disorders are more prone to develop hyperuricemia.
