Freelac Oral Solution is indicated for the treatment of constipation. It is also used in the management of Hepatic Encephalopathy, a liver condition that affects brain function. The active ingredient in this medication is lactulose.
This solution can be administered with or without food. Consistent daily administration is recommended for optimal therapeutic effect. Dosage may be adjusted based on individual response; the recommended dose should not be exceeded.
If constipation persists for more than three days, medical consultation is advised. Common side effects include mild nausea and vomiting, which are typically transient. Patients should inform their physician if they have diabetes or lactose intolerance prior to starting treatment.
Concomitant use with other laxative medications should be avoided. Medical advice should be sought if pregnant or breastfeeding before using this product.

If you missed any dose of Freelac Oral Solution, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one.
Lactulose is digested in the large intestine where the products absorb water into the pipe thereby softening the stools. In patients suffering from liver disease, Lactulose works by absorbing excess ammonia from the blood in the intestine.
