Gitrak Tablet is used to treat various conditions such as indigestion, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite and other symptoms associated with decreased motility of the stomach and intestine. It contains itopride as its active ingredient. This medicine acts by increasing the motility of the gut, thus helping reduce these symptoms.
Gitrak Tablet should not be used by children below 16 years of age and to be used cautiously by elderly patients. Take this medicine as advised by your treating doctor for the suggested duration. It would be better if you take this medicine at a fixed time daily for optimum benefits.
This medicine can sometimes cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and headache. However, most of the side effects get resolved on their own over a short duration of time. Discuss with your doctor about all the known medical and medication history, along with certain medications or herbal supplements you are taking currently.
If you have taken too much of Gitrak Tablet then contact your doctor or visit your nearest hospital immediately.
If you have missed any dose of Gitrak Tablet then take it as soon as you remember. If it's already time for the next dose then skip the missed dose and follow the regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of this medicine to compensate for the missed one.
Gitrak Tablet acts by increasing the movement of food through the stomach and intestine and facilitates bowel movement. It works by increasing the secretion of a chemical called acetylcholine, which stimulates rapid stomach movement, empties the stomach and improves coordination between the stomach and small intestine.
Gitrak Tablet should be taken as instructed by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. Take it at a fixed time for optimal results. Do not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.
There is limited information about the effect of Gitrak Tablet on pregnancy. Thus, it is recommended to avoid taking this medicine, unless prescribed by your doctor after assessing the benefits and the need.
Gitrak Tablet passes into the breast milk and may cause harm to the nursing infant. Depending on the need for the treatment your doctor may either ask you to stop the medicine or discontinue breastfeeding. Inform your doctor if you are a nursing mother.
Gitrak Tablet does not alter the ability to drive. However, if you experience dizziness after taking this medicine, avoid driving.
There is no known interaction of Gitrak Tablet with alcohol.

The elderly are prone to adverse reactions and should thus be closely monitored. If adverse reactions occur, reduction or complete cessation of the medicine needs to be practised, thus your doctor will suggest you the best possible alternative.
Gitrak Tablet should be taken before meals and at the same time to gain optimal benefits. It is recommended to take this medicine before meals.
Yes, Gitrak Tablet may cause diarrhoea as its common side effect, though not everyone experiences this side effect. If you experience persistent diarrhoea after taking this medicine, reach out to your doctor immediately.
Abrupt stopping this medicine may result in reappearing of symptoms or another such kind of problem. Do not stop the treatment without consulting your doctor.
Gitrak Tablet is used to treat various stomach-intestinal symptoms caused by reduced gastrointestinal motility (like the feeling of gastric fullness, upper abdominal pain, decreased appetite, heartburn, nausea & vomiting in non-ulcer dyspepsia (indigestion) or chronic inflammation to stomach lining).
One may experience side effects like diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, headache, dizziness, stomach pain after taking Gitrak Tablet, but not everyone experiences them. These side effects are usually temporary and go away with time. However, if you notice the side effects persists or worsen, please report to your doctor.
