Glycomet GP 1 Forte tablet is an anti-diabetic medicine. It is used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. This medicine contains a combination of glimepiride and metformin as active ingredients.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a condition in which your pancreas does not make enough insulin to keep blood sugar levels under control and your body is also unable to use its own insulin adequately. This causes high blood sugar levels in your body, which can cause medical problems like heart disease, kidney disease, blindness and poor blood flow in your hands and legs. Glycomet GP 1 Forte works by increasing insulin secretion from the pancreas and making your body cells utilize insulin optimally.
It also decreases the production of glucose and reduces its absorption in the body. As a result, the level of blood sugar is reduced, which helps to control type 2 diabetes. Gluconorm G 1 forte tablets , Gemer DS 1mg tablets and Amaryl M 1 forte tablets are a few other examples of medicines with a combination of glimepiride and metformin.
