Cofheal D Syrup is a medication formulated with three active ingredients: chlorpheniramine, dextromethorphan, and phenylephrine. Chlorpheniramine acts as an antihistamine, reducing allergic reactions such as sneezing and a runny nose. Dextromethorphan functions as a cough suppressant, aiming to calm the urge to cough.
Phenylephrine is a decongestant that helps alleviate nasal congestion by reducing swelling in the nasal passages. This combination is indicated for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with the common cold or allergies, including cough, throat irritation, sneezing, and a stuffy nose. Potential side effects include drowsiness or dizziness, which may impair the ability to drive or operate heavy machinery.
Adherence to prescribed dosage is crucial, and a healthcare provider should be consulted if symptoms persist or adverse reactions occur. The Union Health Ministry advises against prescribing or dispensing cough and cold medications to children under two years of age. Such medications are generally not recommended for children under five years old.
For children above this age, use should be based on careful clinical evaluation and close supervision.
