Histac Tablet contains ranitidine, an active ingredient classified as a histamine H2-receptor antagonist. It is indicated for the management of conditions characterized by excessive stomach acid production. This medication is used in the treatment of stomach and intestinal ulcers, which are open sores that develop on the lining of the stomach or small intestine.
It also addresses symptoms associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a chronic digestive disease where stomach acid or bile irritates the food pipe lining. Furthermore, Histac Tablet is utilized to alleviate heartburn, a burning sensation in the chest caused by acid reflux, and general indigestion. Ranitidine functions by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach, thereby promoting healing of existing ulcers and preventing new ones, while also providing relief from acid-related discomforts.
In case of suspected overdose, seek immediate medical attention or contact a healthcare professional.
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for a missed dose.
The stomach produces gastric acid for digestion. Excessive production of this acid can lead to conditions such as acidity, heartburn, and ulcers. Histac Tablet, containing ranitidine, functions by blocking histamine H2 receptors in the stomach lining. This action inhibits the secretion of gastric acid, thereby reducing the overall amount of acid present in the stomach. This mechanism helps in the relief of acid-related indigestion and heartburn, and promotes the healing of ulcers.
This medication should be used by pregnant women only when specifically prescribed by a healthcare professional.
Avoid the use of this medication during breastfeeding, as ranitidine is known to pass into human milk. Consult with a healthcare professional before breastfeeding.
This medication typically does not impair the ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if side effects such as dizziness occur, avoid driving or using machines.
No known direct interaction exists between alcohol and Histac Tablet. Nevertheless, alcohol consumption should be limited as it can increase gastric acidity and potentially worsen symptoms.
Consult a healthcare professional if:
If you are allergic to this medicine or any of the ingredient of this medicine.
You may rarely experience headache, itching, rashes or fever.
There is a valve-like structure called the sphincter between the food pipe and stomach. This valve prevents the acid and the food in your stomach from coming back into the food pipe. When this valve is weak or damaged, acid starts entering the stomach causing heartburn, difficulty in swallowing and food regurgitation.
Use it only for the duration as prescribed by your doctor. Prolonged use is not recommended.
Take it exactly as told by your treating doctor. It should preferably be taken after having your meal.
Yes, both cause an increase in acidity. Smoking also relaxes a valve present between the food pipe and stomach. This leads to stomach acid coming back upwards in the food pipe. This worsens reflux/ GERD disorders.
