Beuflox Iv Injection

Beuflox IV Injection contains ciprofloxacin, an antibiotic belonging to the fluoroquinolone class. It is administered intravenously to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. Ciprofloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby preventing bacterial growth and leading to bacterial cell death.

This medication is effective against various Gram-negative and some Gram-positive bacteria. It is commonly prescribed for severe or complicated infections such as urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections (including pneumonia), skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, intra-abdominal infections, and certain types of infectious diarrhea. It is also used in the treatment of specific sexually transmitted infections and to prevent infections in immunocompromised patients.

The intravenous route ensures rapid and effective delivery of the antibiotic to the site of infection, particularly when oral administration is not feasible or in critical conditions requiring immediate therapeutic levels.

However, this medicine may cause confusion, tremor, headache, tiredness, dizziness, hallucinations, fits, liver or kidney impairment, blood in urine, difficulty in urination if you have been given more of this medicine.

• Your doctor or nurse will monitor you about when the medicine should be given to you
• It is unlikely that the dose will be missed. However, if you think your doctor or nurse might have missed a dose, inform them.

• Medicines that increase the QT interval e.g., medicines that belong to the class anti-arrhythmics, tricyclic antidepressants, macrolides, antipsychotics
• Medicines or dietary supplements that contain calcium, iron, aluminium, magnesium, sevelamer, lanthanum carbonate, antacids or sucralfate. Ciprofloxacin should not be taken within two hours of taking this medicine as they reduce the effect of this medicine.
• Medicines used for treatment of gout like probenecid
• Medicines used to treat nausea and vomiting like metoclopramide
