Loxcip Pd Eye Drop contains moxifloxacin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the fluoroquinolone class. This medication is indicated for the treatment of external bacterial infections affecting the eye, such as bacterial conjunctivitis. Moxifloxacin functions by inhibiting essential bacterial enzymes, specifically DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are crucial for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination.
This action disrupts bacterial cell processes, leading to bacterial cell death and effectively treating the infection. It is important to use this medication precisely as prescribed by a healthcare professional. Adherence to the prescribed dosage and duration of treatment is crucial.
Completing the full course of treatment is essential, even if symptoms improve, to ensure complete eradication of the infection and to minimize the risk of developing antibiotic resistance. Discontinuation of the medication without medical advice may lead to recurrence of the infection, incomplete resolution, or the potential for bacteria to become resistant to the antibiotic. Consult a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.
If you have missed the instillation of Eye Drop, instill it as soon as possible. Do not instill more drops just to compensate for the missed dose.
