Maclox Capsule is an antibiotic medication containing a combination of Ampicillin and Cloxacillin. This formulation provides a broad spectrum of activity against various bacterial strains. Both Ampicillin and Cloxacillin are penicillin-class antibiotics that function by interfering with the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, a structure essential for bacterial survival.
By disrupting this protective layer, the medication effectively eliminates the bacteria causing the infection. This medicine is contraindicated in individuals with a known allergy to Ampicillin, Cloxacillin, or any of its excipients. It should also not be used if there is a history of allergy to similar antibiotics, such as Cefixime, Cefpodoxime, or Amoxicillin, due to the potential for cross-reactivity.
Maclox Capsule is for internal use only and must not be used for eye infections; direct eye contact should be avoided. Potential adverse effects include gastrointestinal disturbances like nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, as well as dermatological reactions such as itching, rashes, red bumps, and blisters.
This medicine inhibits the formation of the outer membrane of bacteria and thereby kills the bacteria responsible for the infection.
This medicine should be taken whole with a sufficient amount of water. It is recommended to take it on an empty stomach or one hour before a meal.
The effects of this medicine during pregnancy are not fully established. Animal studies have not indicated undesirable effects on the developing fetus, and it is generally considered safe. However, use during pregnancy should only occur if deemed essential by a physician.
This medicine passes into breast milk and may cause side effects in a breastfed infant, such as diarrhea and oral fungal infections. Therefore, breastfeeding is generally not advised while taking this medicine.
This medicine is not known to impair the ability to drive.
This medicine can cause side effects such as nausea and vomiting. Alcohol consumption may exacerbate these gastrointestinal symptoms. It is advisable to avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.
