Meftal-P tablet is an analgesic medicine. It is used to provide relief from pain and inflammation of joints, bones and post-surgery. This medicine also reduces abdominal cramps during menses.
Meftal-P tablet contains mefenamic acid as its active ingredient. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medicine. Take this medicine as suggested by the doctor and in the dose and duration prescribed.
Do not take more than the recommended dose. Before using this medicine, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history. This medicine should not be used for the relief of pain after bypass surgery of the heart and in pregnant women during the third trimester.
Symptoms of overdose of Meftal-P tablet include diarrhoea, drowsiness, ringing sound in ears, headache, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and fainting. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
If you missed any dose of Meftal-P tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the scheduled time. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed dose.
Meftal-P tablet works by interfering with the production of a chemical called prostaglandins, which is responsible for inflammation, swelling, and sensation of pain.
It is advised not to take Meftal-P tablet during pregnancy, especially in the last three months of pregnancy. If you think you are pregnant or might become pregnant, discontinue the treatment and talk to your doctor.
Meftal-P tablet passes into the breast milk in small amounts. Thus, it should not be taken by breastfeeding women. Your doctor may prescribe you with some other alternative or you may be asked to discontinue breastfeeding.
Meftal-P tablet may cause dizziness, visual disturbance, and drowsiness. So, it is advised to be careful and cautious while driving and operating machines.
You should avoid consuming alcohol along with Meftal-P tablet.
