Mergin Tablet contains methyl ergometrine. It is used after childbirth to prevent or stop uterine bleeding. Mergin works by increasing the rate and strength of uterine contractions which helps in controlling bleeding.
Headache, high blood pressure, nausea or vomiting are some of the side effects of Mergin Tablet. If side effects do not go away on their own or your condition doesn't improve over time then inform your doctor.
Symptoms of an overdose include nausea, vomiting, pain in the stomach, tingling sensation, numbness, seizures, increase in blood pressure, difficulty in breathing, decrease in body temperature, etc. If you have taken too much of this medicine, then contact your doctor or reach out to the nearest hospital immediately.
If you have missed taking any dose of Mergin Tablet, then take it as soon as you remember. If it's already time for the next dose then skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule.
Mergin Tablet works by increasing the rate and strength of uterine contractions which helps in decreasing bleeding.
Components of Mergin Tablet are not known to cause harm to the unborn babies. This medicine should not be taken by pregnant women due to uterine contractions caused by this medicine.
Components of Mergin Tablet are known to pass into the breastmilk and can cause undesirable effects in the breastfed babies. Lactating mother should not breastfeed her baby during the treatment with this medicine and for at least 12 hours after taking the last dose of this medicine. Breastmilk recreated during this period should be discarded.
Taking Mergin Tablet can cause dizziness. Avoid driving if you have dizziness after taking this medicine.
Consumption of alcohol along with Mergin Tablet can increase dizziness. Avoid alcohol consumption if you are taking this medicine.
Talk to your doctor if
Mergin Tablet can cause decreased milk production and can cause adverse effects in the breastfed babies if taken by a lactating mother. Breastfeeding should be started by lactating the mother only if at least 12 hours have passed after taking the last dose of this medicine.
Mergin Tablet should not be given to stop uterine bleeding after childbirth if the patient has high blood pressure as it can cause a further rise of blood pressure.
Mergin Tablet should not be used to stop menstrual bleeding. It is prescribed by the doctor to prevent or control uterine bleeding occurring after childbirth.
