Merimox Capsule is an antibiotic medication containing amoxicillin. It is prescribed for the treatment of various bacterial infections affecting different body systems. These include infections of the respiratory tract, such as those impacting the lungs, airways, tonsils, and throat.
It is also effective against bacterial infections of the skin and the urinary tract. Additionally, Merimox Capsule is used in the treatment of specific sexually transmitted diseases, such as gonorrhoea. It can also be part of a regimen to reduce the risk of recurrent ulcers caused by the bacterium Helicobacter pylori.
Amoxicillin functions by interfering with the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, which is essential for bacterial survival and replication, thus inhibiting their growth and multiplication. It is important to note that antibiotics, including Merimox Capsule, are effective only against bacterial infections and should not be used for viral infections. Misuse of antibiotics contributes to antimicrobial resistance.
Patients must complete the entire course of treatment as prescribed by a healthcare professional, even if symptoms improve, to ensure complete eradication of the infection and prevent recurrence.
The symptoms of an overdose of Merimox Capsule includes nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting. In case of an overdose, contact the doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
You should never miss your dose of antibiotics as it may lead to treatment failure and relapse of the infection. If you miss a dose of Merimox Capsule, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the medicine schedule.
Merimox Capsule blocks the action of an enzyme responsible for cell wall formation in bacteria, thereby stopping the growth and multiplication of bacteria responsible for the infection.
