Milixim Cv Tablet is an antibiotic medication formulated with a combination of cefixime and clavulanic acid. It is indicated for the treatment of severe bacterial infections affecting various body systems. These include infections of the urinary tract, respiratory system (lungs, throat, tonsils), skin, and specific conditions such as typhoid fever and gonorrhoea.
Cefixime functions by disrupting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, which is essential for bacterial survival and replication, ultimately leading to their destruction. However, certain bacteria produce beta-lactamase enzymes that can inactivate cefixime, rendering it ineffective. Clavulanic acid is included in this formulation to counteract these enzymes.
By inhibiting beta-lactamases, clavulanic acid protects cefixime from degradation, ensuring its optimal antibacterial efficacy against susceptible pathogens.
