Minoliv Ud Tablet contains ursodeoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring bile acid. It is indicated for the treatment of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC), primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), and cholesterol-based gallstones. It may also be used to manage liver conditions associated with cystic fibrosis.
The medication works by reducing cholesterol content in bile. Minoliv Ud Tablet should be swallowed whole after a meal, preferably with milk or or water. Dosage is determined by the treating physician based on the patient's condition and body weight.
Regular adherence to the prescribed duration of treatment is important, even if symptoms improve. Potential side effects include abdominal pain, diarrhoea, hair loss, itching, nausea, and rash. Patients should inform their doctor if they experience persistent side effects or have pre-existing conditions such as gallbladder or bile duct inflammation, frequent upper abdominal pain, hemoptysis, or rapid weight gain.
This medication may interact with other drugs; therefore, disclose all current medications to your doctor. Women using hormonal birth control pills should switch to non-hormonal methods due to increased gallstone risk. Liver function monitoring via ultrasound scans and blood tests is often required during treatment.
The most common symptom of an overdose of Minoliv Ud is diarrhoea. Consult your doctor immediately if you have taken an excessive dose of this medicine.
If you missed any dose of Minoliv Ud Tablets, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of this medicine to compensate for the missed one.
Minoliv Ud Tablet improve liver function. It works as a dissolving agent and thus reduces the cholesterol content in bile and controls the blood's amount of cholesterol. It is also known to control the synthesis of cholesterol and absorption from the intestine.
There is limited information on the safety of Minoliv Ud Tablets in pregnancy. Hence, it is recommended not to use the same unless prescribed by your doctor.
The safety of Minoliv Ud Tablets is not established in breastfeeding women. Hence, it should not be used while breastfeeding.
It is not expected that Minoliv Ud Tablet will affect your ability to drive but if you do not feel well or are unable to be alert, you should avoid driving.
Although there is no known interaction with alcohol and Minoliv Ud Tablet, it is essential to consult your physician if you have a habit of regular drinking.
