Nestclav Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medication indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections affecting the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is intended for pediatric use and requires adult supervision during administration. The medication can be given with or without food; however, administration with food is advised to enhance absorption and mitigate gastrointestinal upset.
The prescribed dose and frequency are determined by the type and severity of the infection, as well as the child’s age and body weight. Adherence to the doctor's prescribed dose, schedule, and administration method is crucial. If a child vomits within 30 minutes of receiving a dose, the same dose should be repeated after the child settles.
If the next scheduled dose is imminent, a double dose should not be administered to compensate for the missed one. Potential side effects include vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain, and allergic reactions. These effects are typically mild and transient.
Should they persist or intensify, medical consultation is recommended. Prior to treatment, inform the prescribing physician of the child's full medical history, including any known allergies, cardiac conditions, blood disorders, congenital anomalies, airway obstructions, pulmonary issues, gastrointestinal disorders, dermatological conditions, or hepatic and renal impairments. This information is vital for appropriate dosage adjustment and safe, effective treatment planning.
Symptoms of an overdose include stomach disturbances, vomiting, diarrhoea, drowsiness and fluid retention. If you have given too much of Nestclav Dry Syrup to your child, contact your doctor or reach out to the nearest hospital immediately.
It is advised not to miss any dose of antibiotics as it can affect the treatment regimen. If you have missed giving any dose of Nestclav Dry Syrup, then give it as soon as you remember. If it's already time for the next dose, then skip the missed dose and follow the regular dosing schedule.
Nestclav Dry Syrup works by the combined action of both its components - amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin works by killing the bacteria responsible for infections. However, the bacteria make the enzyme (beta-lactamases) which can destroy amoxicillin. Clavulanic acid inactivates this enzyme and hence helps amoxicillin to perform its function.
Consult a healthcare professional if any of the following apply:
Yes, diarrhoea is a common side effect during treatment with Nestclav Dry Syrup. However, if your child is experiencing persistent diarrhoea, seek advice from your doctor immediately.
Never give Nestclav Dry Syrup if your child is allergic to penicillin. Serious side effects can result in the same. Always consult your doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Nestclav Dry Syrup can start showing its effect approximately after 1 hour of its consumption. However, it varies among individuals and can also vary due to the severity of the infection. As it is an antibiotic medicine, the complete effect towards the infection could be seen after the course completion of the antibiotic treatment.
