Nexpro Iv powder for injection is a medicine used to treat conditions like stomach ulcers, heartburn, gastritis, and infections caused by Helicobacter pylori. It may also help prevent cancer in the oesophagus (food pipe). The main ingredient in this medication is esomeprazole.
This medication is only given in hospitals by a doctor or nurse. Do not try to take it yourself. This medicine works by reducing the acid in your stomach.
It belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). It helps relieve symptoms like pain, acidity, and indigestion. Let your doctor know if you are allergic to PPIs (like omeprazole or pantoprazole) or are taking HIV medicines or antifungal drugs, as they may interact with them.
Some people may have side effects such as stomach pain, nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, or headache. Rarely, serious allergic skin reactions or sensitivity to sunlight may occur. If you notice any unusual rash, discontinue use of the medicine and consult your doctor immediately.
Also, tell your doctor if you’ve had stomach surgery, liver or kidney problems, or are over 55 and need to use this long-term. Always store the medicine below 25°C, away from sunlight, children, and pets. Do not freeze it; discard any unused portion.
An overdose may cause nausea, drowsiness, or headache. Seek immediate help if this happens. Avoid alcohol in large amounts, and do not drive if you feel dizzy or drowsy after taking this medicine.

Side effects of Nexpro Iv powder for injection include stomachache, nausea or vomiting, headache, constipation or diarrhoea with flatulence, allergic reactions, skin rash and some serious but rare side effects of blistering of skin and erosion of nose, mouth, lips and genitals (Stevens–Johnson syndrome) and sensitivity to light.
Nexpro Iv powder for injection is reported to have interactions with drugs such as Iitraconazole, ketoconazole (used in the treatment of fungal infections) or erlotinib, methotrexate, etc. (use in the treatment of certain types of cancers) and with medicines to treat HIV such as nelfinavir/tenofovir/atazanavir, rilpivirine, etc.
This medicine is to be avoided if you had stomach surgery, liver and kidneys problems; are more than 55 years of age and need to take this medication for a long term. Do not self-medicate with this medication and always seek the suggestion of medical experts. Do not use this medicine and contact your health care expert if you get rashes on exposure to sun while on its medication.
Report your complete medical/surgical history and any history of stomach cancer to your doctor. Also, inform him/her about any history of HIV and liver/kidneys problems.
