Nozia tablet contains ramosetron, a medicine used to prevent nausea and vomiting that can happen during cancer treatment, especially with chemotherapy drugs like cisplatin. It belongs to a group of medicines called 5-HT3 receptor antagonists, which are commonly used to control chemotherapy-related stomach discomfort. This medicine is usually given before chemotherapy to help the body cope better with treatment and improve comfort.
During chemotherapy, the body releases a natural chemical called serotonin in the stomach and intestines, which sends signals to the brain and triggers nausea and vomiting. Ramosetron works by blocking these signals, so the brain does not receive strong “vomiting” messages. Because of this action, it helps reduce the feeling of sickness and the urge to vomit.
Nozia tablet is often taken once daily as prescribed by the doctor, usually about an hour before chemotherapy. It is designed to dissolve easily in the mouth and can be swallowed with saliva or water. The dose and duration may be adjusted depending on age, symptoms, and the type of cancer treatment being given.
This medicine is generally well tolerated, but some people may experience mild side effects such as headache, sleepiness, or constipation. It is a prescription medicine and should be used only under medical guidance, especially during cancer treatment, to ensure safe and effective control of nausea and vomiting.
If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
If you miss any dose of Nozia tablet, take it as soon as you remember with food. However, if it is time for the next dose, then skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Ramosetron works by blocking a natural chemical in the body called serotonin, which is released during cancer treatment and can trigger nausea and vomiting. By stopping serotonin from sending these signals to the brain and stomach, ramosetron helps prevent the feeling of sickness and the urge to vomit. This action makes chemotherapy easier to tolerate and helps you feel more comfortable during treatment.
Nozia tablet should be used during pregnancy only if your doctor feels that the benefits are greater than the possible risks to the baby, because its safety in pregnancy is not fully established. Consult your doctor before taking Nozia tablet during pregnancy.
Nozia tablet should be used with caution while breastfeeding because it is not clearly known how much of the medicine passes into breast milk and how it may affect the baby. If you are breastfeeding, do not take this medicine on your own. Your doctor will carefully decide whether it is necessary for you and may suggest the safest option for you and your baby during cancer treatment.
Nozia tablet may sometimes cause side effects like dizziness, sleepiness, or headache in some people. If you feel drowsy, lightheaded, or unwell after taking this medicine, you should avoid driving, operating machines, or doing activities that need full attention. If you feel completely normal and alert, driving may be possible, but it is always safer to be cautious and follow your doctor’s advice.
It is best to avoid alcohol while taking Nozia tablet because alcohol can increase side effects like dizziness, drowsiness, and stomach discomfort. Drinking alcohol during cancer treatment may also worsen nausea and make you feel weaker. For your safety and better effect of the medicine, it is advisable to avoid alcohol or consult your doctor before drinking it.
