Otocin D Eye/Ear Drop contains a combination of three medicines namely - polymyxin B and chloramphenicol are the antibiotic medicines, while dexamethasone is a steroid medicine that reduces the redness, pain and swelling in the eye and ears or ear. This medicine is used to treat bacterial eye and ear and ear infections. Otocin D Eye/Ear Drop should be used in the correct dose and for the exact duration as prescribed by your doctor.
Complete the course given by your doctor. If you find any discomfort after using this medicine or there is no improvement in your condition after using this medicine, then immediately inform your doctor.
As Otocin D Eye/Ear Drop is meant for external application, cases of an overdose are unlikely. However, upon accidental ingestion, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital. If you have applied extra quantities of it, then wash/wipe out the excess of the medicine with a tissue or cotton.
If you have missed instilling Otocin D Eye/Ear Drop, then instil it as soon as possible. Do not over-instil this medicine just to compensate for the missed application.
Do not use Otocin D Eye/Ear Drop during pregnancy. Consult your doctor and ask for a safer alternative.
There is limited safety data available about the use of this medicine in breastfeeding mothers. Hence, it is very important to consult your doctor before using this medicine while breastfeeding.
Otocin D Eye/Ear Drop does not effect your ability to drive. However, if you experience blurry vision or any other side effect, which disturbs the ability to drive, avoid driving.
Alcohol is not known to interact with Otocin D Eye/Ear Drop. However, avoid using alcohol as it can delay the healing process or decrease your body's response to the infection.
Talk to your doctor if
Otocin D Eye/Ear Drop contains a steroid component, which may increase the pressure of your eye. You should avoid the use of this drop if you have glaucoma. Consult your doctor and do not self medicate.
Otocin D Eye/Ear Drop will not cause blindness if used on the doctor's advice and in a proper way. However, if it is used for a wrong eye condition, which has not been prescribed by your doctor, it may lead to severe complications.
Do not use this medicine while you are wearing your contact lenses, if it is used to treat eye infection. Remove contact lenses before the application of Otocin D Eye/Ear Drop and wait for at least 20 minutes or more before reinsertion.
