Pantafol-DSR Capsule is commonly prescribed to treat acidity and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition where acid from the stomach flows back into the food pipe and causes heartburn, chest pain, and irritation. It helps reduce symptoms of acid reflux, protects the lining of the food pipe, and improves overall digestive comfort when taken regularly as advised by the doctor. This capsule contains a combination of two medicines: pantoprazole and domperidone.
Pantoprazole decreases the production of excess acid in the stomach, while domperidone helps improve the movement of food through the stomach and prevents the backflow of acid into the food pipe. Together, they provide faster and better relief from heartburn, bloating, nausea, and acidity. Pantafol-DSR Capsule should always be taken in the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor.
It is usually recommended to take it before meals, preferably in the morning. Swallow the capsule whole with water without crushing or chewing it. Do not stop the medicine suddenly on your own, even if you start feeling better, as this can cause your symptoms to return.
Before starting this medicine, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Also, share your complete medical history, especially if you have any liver, kidney, or heart-related conditions. Always inform your doctor about any other medicines, supplements, or herbal products you are taking, as some of them can interact with Pantafol-DSR Capsule.
To achieve the best results with this medicine, it is recommended to avoid spicy, oily, and fried foods, as they can worsen acidity. Eat smaller, more frequent meals instead of heavy ones, avoid lying down immediately after eating, and try to maintain a healthy weight with regular exercise. Limiting tea, coffee, alcohol, and smoking will also help in better management of GERD symptoms and improve your digestive health.
Symptoms of an overdose of Pantafol DSR capsule include drowsiness, slurred speech, and feeling anxious. If you have taken too much of this medicine, then contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
If you missed any dose of Pantafol DSR capsule, then take it as soon as you remember it. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.
There is no information available on the effect of Pantafol DSR capsule in pregnant women. Hence, it should be avoided unless prescribed by a doctor.
