Perjeta 420mg Injection is an anticancer medication that contains pertuzumab, used to treat a specific type of breast cancer (HER2-positive) in conjunction with other chemotherapy drugs. Common side effects of this medication include hair loss, diarrhea, nausea, and fatigue. This medication may reduce the number of blood cells, specifically decreasing white blood cells, which can increase susceptibility to infections.
Regular blood tests are required to monitor your blood cells, as well as to check your heart, liver, and kidneys. Many other medications can affect or be affected by this treatment, so inform your healthcare team about all medications you are using. This medication is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Both males and females must use effective contraception during treatment to prevent pregnancy. Please discuss all medications you are currently taking, including supplements and herbs, with your doctor before starting Perjeta. Additionally, it is important to inform your doctor if you have a history of heart problems or have previously undergone chemotherapy.
Your doctor or nurse will carefully monitor and schedule your injections, making it unlikely for a dose to be missed. However, if you suspect a dose might have been overlooked, let them know immediately.
Your doctor or nurse will give Perjeta 420mg Injection. Therefore, the chances of overdose are very rare. If you experience the symptoms right after taking the injection, seek medical help.
Pertuzumab specifically targets a protein known as HER2, found on the surface of certain breast cancer cells. HER2 plays a crucial role in promoting the growth and division of these cells. Pertuzumab binds to a distinct part of the HER2 protein, impeding its proper function, which can help inhibit the growth and spread of cancer cells.
This medicine will be given to you by your doctor or nurse. Self-administration is not advised.
Perjeta 420mg injection is not advisable during pregnancy and for women of childbearing potential who are not using contraception.
Perjeta 420mg Injection may be excreted in breast milk; therefore, a decision should be made regarding whether to discontinue breastfeeding or to halt treatment, considering the benefits of breastfeeding for the child and the advantages of Perjeta therapy for the woman.
Perjeta has a minor impact on driving or operating machines. Dizziness may occur during treatment, and patients with infusion reactions should avoid driving or using machines until symptoms improve.
No known interactions with alcohol.
