Prax 10 mg tablet contains Prasugrel as its active ingredient, which belongs to a group of medicines called blood thinners. It is used in preventing blood clot formation in blood vessels after certain procedures (cardiac stent) in people with heart diseases, reducing the risk of having another heart attack, stroke and heart-related chest pain. It ensures the smooth and normal flow of blood in blood vessels.
This medicine is not recommended for use in children and adolescents. It should be taken as directed by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed. It can be taken with or without food.
Before using this medicine, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history.
Overdose of Prax 10 mg tablet may cause excessive bleeding. Seek urgent medical attention in case you have consumed too much of this medicine.
If you missed any dose of Prax 10 mg tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.
Prasugrel in Prax 10 mg tablet works by inhibiting the enzymes responsible for platelet aggregation and prevents the platelets from sticking to each other. This maintains a smooth flow of blood in the blood vessels, thus decreasing the formation of harmful blood clots.
