Radic Strip Of 10 Tablets

Radic tablet is a prescription medicine that contains a combination of two medicines, dicyclomine, and ranitidine. This medicine is used to treat ulcers in the stomach, heartburn and irritable bowel syndrome.

Dosage

Overdose

If you take more medicine than prescribed, contact your doctor immediately.

Missed a Dose

Take the missed dose when you remember. But if it is almost time for another dose, do not take it. Avoid taking extra tablets to compensate.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

The dicyclomine component of the medicine acts by reducing spasms of the gastrointestinal tract by blocking a chemical in the body responsible for contractions of muscles. Ranitidine acts by stopping secretion of acid in the stomach and helps relieve heartburn.

Directions for Use

• Take the tablets exactly as prescribed by the doctor
• Do not chew or crush them in the mouth, swallow whole with water
• Do not exceed the dosage prescribed
• If you start to experience discomfort after taking the tablet, consult the doctor

Talk to your doctor if

• You are taking other medicines, even ones not given by a doctor
• You have stomach cancer
• You have kidney problems
• You are above 65 years of age
• You have heart problems
• You suffer from autonomic neuropathy or myasthenia gravis
• You have had an ileostomy or colostomy
• You have diabetes
• You have problems with your immune system
• You have lung diseases
• You have had stomach ulcers or are taking pain medicines of category NSAIDs
• Your infant, who has been prescribed this medicine, is below 6 months of age
• You have liver problems
• You are suffering from a condition called acute porphyria
• You already have fever and are being given this medicine
• You have an infection in the intestine that is causing severe diarrhoea
• You have ulcerative colitis or suspected enlargement of prostate gland

Contraindications

• History of allergy to ranitidine or dicyclomine or other constituents of the tablet
• In infant below 6 months of age
• Glaucoma
• Condition where stomach acid refluxes into the oesophagus
• Unstable cardiovascular status and acute haemorrhage
• Myasthenia gravis
• Obstructive disease of gastrointestinal tract or blocked urine flow
• Inflammation or ulcers in gastric tract

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

• Antacids should not be taken with this medicine as it may affect the absorption of dicyclomine in the body
• Side effects of dicyclomine may be enhanced if taken with amantadine, quinidine, benzodiazepines, etc
• Medicines used to treat stomach secretions may not allow Radic tablet to produce desired action in the body
• Ranitidine may reduce the excretion of procainamide from the body and increase its level in the blood
• If given with this tablet, the absorption of triazolam, glipizide may be increased and of ketoconazole may be decreased
• The effect of medicines used in glaucoma is countered by the dicyclomine component of this tablet and must not be given together

Storage and disposal

Store the Radic tablets at room temperature below 30°C and away from sunlight. Keep them away from children and do not use after the expiry date on the carton passes.
