Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion is a medication that contains cyclosporin, an immunosuppressant. It is used to treat a condition called dry eye syndrome (keratoconjunctivitis sicca). This allergic eye condition affects the transparent layer in the front of the eye and the thin membrane that covers it.
It causes excessive eye dryness, redness, itching, inflammation, and discomfort. Dry eye syndrome occurs when the eyes do not produce enough tears to lubricate and nourish themselves. Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion is only meant for ophthalmic use.
To avoid contamination, it is important to wash your hands before thoroughly and after application and not touch the container's tip with your mouth, nose, or any other body part. If you wear soft contact lenses, please remove them before applying Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion. It is advisable to consult your doctor on whether you can use contact lenses while being treated for dry eyes.
It is essential to inform your doctor if you have any other eye conditions besides dry eye syndrome, such as an eye infection or glaucoma, before using Restasis Ophthalmic Emulsion.
