Serenace Tablet belongs to a class of medications known as antipsychotics. It contains Haloperidol, which treats certain mental/mood disorders (psychosis, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorders) and Tourette Syndrome. It works by preventing dopamine, a chemical messenger in the human brain that influences thoughts and emotions, from acting.
Schizophrenia is a mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally. Schizophrenic patients experience hallucinations, delusions, and extremely disordered thinking and behaviour, impairing daily functioning and disabling. Tourette disorder is a neurological ailment characterised by uncontrollable repeated motions, noises, or tics.
Serenace Tablet can be taken with or without food or prescribed. The dose and duration of the medicine should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. You must not skip any doses and complete the full course of treatment even if you feel better.
This medication is not stopped abruptly without consulting your doctor as it may worsen your symptoms and show withdrawal symptoms. Before taking medicine, talk to your doctor if you have thyroid or renal issues, epilepsy, glaucoma, Parkinson's disease, or any heart issues. You should consult your doctor before taking Serenace Tablets if you are pregnant.
Don’t take this medicine if you are breastfeeding, as it may pass into breast milk.
Do not take serenace tab more than the prescribed dose. Taking more than the prescribed dose will not improve your symptoms; instead, they may cause poisoning or serious side-effects like chest tightness, breathing problems, itching, fever, terrible cough, Abnormal heartbeat, dizziness, a significant change in balance, shakiness, problems moving about, agitation and excitability. If you think you’ve taken an overdose, seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor immediately.
If you miss a dose of Serenace Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Don’t double the dosage on your own as it leads to overdose.

Taking other medicines with Serenace Tablet can cause medicine interaction leading to serious side effects. Consult your doctor about all the medications you take and your past medical history
