Spasmonil Plus Tablet

Spasmonil Plus tablet contains Dicyclomine and Mefenamic acid. It is an antispasmodic medicine used to treat spasms and pain in the abdomen during or before menses. The medicine must not be used for more than 7 days.

If the pain persists, consult the doctor. Take with food or after food. The medicine must not be given to children below 12 years of age.

It is advisable to give them the paediatric formulations of the medicine.

Overdose

The symptoms of an overdose of Spasmonil Plus Tablet include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, gastrointestinal bleeding, rarely diarrhoea, excitation, coma, drowsiness, ringing sound in ears, fainting, occasionally fits or convulsions. In case of an overdose, contact the doctor or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

Avoid taking a double dose to compensate for the missed one. If you have missed taking a dose, take the next dose as soon as you remember.

How Does It Work?

• Spasmonil Plus Tablet acts via the combined action of Mefenamic acid and Dicyclomine.
• Mefenamic acid inhibits the production of prostaglandin by blocking an enzyme responsible for prostaglandin synthesis. Prostaglandin is an inflammatory mediator that is implicated in conditions of pain, swelling and inflammatory responses.
• Dicyclomine acts via two mechanisms. It is an antispasmodic agent that acts on smooth muscles of the uterus, urethra, intestine and bile duct and helps to relieve pain.

Directions for Use

• Swallow as a whole with a sufficient amount of water.
• Take the medicine with or after food as instructed by the physician.

Pregnancy

Can I take Spasmonil Plus Tablet during pregnancy?

Avoid during pregnancy, as it causes heart abnormalities in the growing foetus. It delays labour and increases bleeding tendency in both mother and child if used during labour.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Spasmonil Plus Tablet while breastfeeding?

The medicine is taken while breastfeeding as it is usually safe.

Driving

Can I drive if I have consumed Spasmonil Plus Tablet?

You may experience dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness or visual disturbance after taking Meftal Spas. Caution is advised while driving or operating machinery.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol while taking Spasmonil Plus Tablet?

No direct interaction is available of Spasmonil Plus Tablet tablet with alcohol. There is a risk of liver damage in chronic alcoholics and people with liver problems if you are taking the medicine and consume alcohol.

• You have an existing liver and kidney function problem or bleeding disorder of the stomach or the intestine.

• You have a prostate-related disorder, ulcerative colitis and megacolon.
• Women suffer from infertility with the use of medicine. Avoid the medicine if you are planning to conceive.
• You experience related brain disorders like confusion, hallucinations, tiredness or aggression.
• There is a risk of heart-related disorder, heart failure and stroke after prolonged use of the medicine. It must be used cautiously in patients with the risk of heart disorder.

Contraindications

• If you are allergic to Mefenamic acid, Dicyclomine or other ingredients of the medicine.
