Sucral-O suspension is a medicine used for the treatment of stomach and intestinal ulcers and to prevent their recurrence. It also helps manage pain, acidity after meals, heartburn, and irritation caused by acid reflux or inflammation of the stomach lining. The suspension contains sucralfate and oxetacaine as its active ingredients.
Sucralfate forms a protective barrier over the ulcer surface, promoting healing, while oxetacaine works as a local anesthetic to provide relief from pain and burning sensation in the stomach. Your doctor will prescribe Sucral-O suspension in the right dose and duration based on your condition. It is usually recommended to take it one hour before meals or as advised.
Shake the bottle well before use and measure the prescribed dose with the provided measuring cup for accuracy. Do not exceed the recommended dose and avoid taking it without consulting a healthcare professional. Sucral-O suspension is also available in other brands such as Sucrafil O Sugar-free gel , Macralfate O Sugar-free gel , and Sucrace O suspension , which contain the same combination of sucralfate and oxetacaine.
These medications are prescribed for similar conditions and provide relief from acid reflux, ulcers, and associated discomfort. Before starting Sucral-O suspension, make sure to inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy. Additionally, please share your complete medical history, including any history of kidney disease, swallowing difficulties, or gastrointestinal bleeding.
This will help your doctor determine whether this medicine is safe and suitable for you. For optimal results, follow a healthy diet and lifestyle in conjunction with this medicine. Avoid spicy, fried, and acidic foods that may worsen acidity or ulcer symptoms.
Eat smaller meals at regular intervals, stay hydrated, and avoid smoking or alcohol, as these can delay healing and worsen stomach irritation. If your symptoms persist despite treatment, consult your doctor promptly.
The overdose of Sucral-O Suspension may result in symptoms like stomach pain, vomiting, dizziness and fainting. In case of an overdose, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
If you miss any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of this medicine to compensate for the missed one.
It is not advisable to use Sucral-O Suspension during pregnancy as there is limited safety information regarding the use of this medicine in pregnant women.
It is not advisable to be used in lactating mothers as there is limited information available on its safety in lactating women and its effect on the breastfed infant.
There is limited information about the effects of this medicine on driving. However, this medicine may sometimes cause dizziness, avoid driving if you do not feel well or are unable to be alert.
