Tinfal F Skin Solution is a topical combination medicine containing minoxidil and finasteride, used to treat male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) in men. It works to reduce hair fall and promote the regrowth of hair. This solution is intended for application on the scalp and should not be used on other parts of the body.
Due to the presence of finasteride, it is not recommended for use in women, especially those who are pregnant or planning pregnancy. Minoxidil acts by dilating blood vessels in the scalp, thereby improving blood circulation to hair follicles. This enhances follicular activity and prolongs the growth phase of hair.
Finasteride works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone responsible for shrinking hair follicles in genetically predisposed men. By reducing DHT levels at the scalp, finasteride helps prevent further miniaturisation of hair follicles and slows down hair loss progression. Tinfal F Skin Solution should be applied only on a completely dry scalp.
The usual recommended dose is 1 ml twice daily (morning and evening), maintaining a 12-hour gap between applications. The maximum dosage should not exceed 2 ml per day. Using more than the prescribed amount will not accelerate hair growth and may increase the risk of side effects such as irritation, low blood pressure, or systemic absorption-related effects.
The use of hairdryers immediately after application, mixing with hair oil, or covering the scalp with caps before the solution dries should be avoided. This medicine is not recommended for children and elderly patients above 65 years of age. Consistent and long-term use is usually required to maintain results.
If no improvement is noticed after 4–6 months of regular use, medical reassessment is advised.
Tinfal F should not be used by pregnant women as it has a high potential to cause birth defects in the unborn baby.
Tinfal F Skin Solution is secreted in breast milk, though the exact amounts cannot be ascertained. Use as a topical solution (on the skin surface) may not lead to a significant rise in the blood levels of the medicine. However, it is advisable to avoid using this medicine in breastfeeding women, unless suitable alternatives do not exist.
Tinfal F Skin Solution is not known to affect an individual's ability to drive. However, in the presence of heart disease or symptoms like rapid heartbeats, chest pain, feeling dizzy, or vision problems, it is advisable to avoid driving.
No known interaction with alcohol.
