Zyloric 300 tablets are used to treat and prevent gout and high uric acid levels caused by kidney problems or certain medications. Zyloric 300 tablets contain the active ingredient allopurinol, which reduces uric acid production in the body. Gout is a type of arthritis that causes sudden pain, redness and swelling in the joints.
This is usually caused by uric acid deposits in the joints. You should not take Zyloric 300 tablets if you have kidney or liver disease, are pregnant or breastfeeding or are allergic to allopurinol. Do not recommend Zyloric 300 tablets to anyone else, even if they have similar symptoms to you.
Before taking Zyloric 300 tablets, tell your doctor about all the medications and herbal supplements you are taking and any medical conditions you have.
Symptoms of an overdose may cause gastrointestinal disturbances like nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea and constipation. In case of an overdose, consult your doctor immediately.
If you have missed a dosage of Zyloric 300 tablet, take it as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. A double dose should not be taken to compensate for the missed one.
Allopurinol present in Zyloric 300 tablet inhibits the action of an enzyme Xanthine oxidase. Xanthine oxidase is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in the synthesis of uric acid in the body. Hence, Allopurinol inhibits the production of uric acid and reduces its levels in blood and urine.
Take Zyloric 300 tablet with a glass of water. It should be taken with or after meals. Swallow it as a whole. Do not break, cut or chew the tablet. Take it as directed by your doctor and do not consume it more than the prescribed dose.
Zyloric 300 tablet may cause birth abnormalities. Hence, it should not be used in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before starting any medicine during pregnancy.
Allopurinol passes into the breastmilk and may cause side effects to the baby. Hence, Zyloric 300 tablet should not be used by lactating women.
You may experience side effects like drowsiness or dizziness after taking Zyloric 300 tablets. Be cautious while driving if you experience any side effects.
Alcohol increases uric acid levels in the blood and thus increases attacks of Gout. Therefore, avoid alcohol if you have high uric acid levels.
Talk to your doctor if
The duration of treatment with Zyloric 300 tablet depends on the underlying condition and the patient's response to the treatment.
Do not stop Zyloric 300 tablet without your doctor's recommendation as it may worsen your gout attacks.
When the uric acid levels increase in the blood, needle-shaped crystals are built-in and around the joint and cause swelling and pain in the joints, which can last for weeks. This condition is known as Gout.
There are several causes of increased uric acid crystals such as heredity, diuretic medicines, chronic alcoholism, hypothyroidism, certain chemotherapy medicines, kidney stones and consumption of food rich in a component called prunes (red meat, organ meat and certain seafood).
An adequate intake of water is recommended while using Zyloric 300 tablet. In the case of patients with kidney stones, special care should be taken as the stones may enter the urinary tract.
Zyloric 300 tablet contains Allopurinol and is used for the treatment of gout and high levels of uric acid. Febuxostat is also used to treat gout and is generally recommended to patients who cannot take Allopurinol. Based on the cause of your illness, your doctor will prescribe one of these medicines. Do not self-medicate.
Zyloric should be taken with water, ideally after food or as told by the doctor. It can be taken at any time of the day. However, try to take your medicine at the same time daily.
