Is your blood pressure too high or too low? Learn easy ways to lower blood pressure, spot low blood pressure symptoms, and find out what causes that dizzy feeling in this simple guide.

Even though we usually hear grown-ups talking about high blood pressure, having low pressure can make you feel pretty silly and tired too. Let’s learn how to keep our blood pumping just right!
Imagine your heart is a little water pump and your veins are like garden hoses. Blood pressure is just the "push" the blood uses to travel through the hoses to reach your toes and your brain.
If the push is too weak (that's Low Blood Pressure), the blood takes too long to get to your head, and that’s why you might feel dizzy.
When your blood isn't pushing hard enough, your body sends you some signals. These are called symptoms. You might feel:
Dizzy or Lightheaded: Like you just finished spinning in circles.
Sleepy: Feeling very tired even if you just woke up.
Blurry Eyes: Like you are looking through a foggy window.
Thirsty: Your body is begging for more water!
There are a few reasons why your "pump" might be moving a little slow:
Not Enough Water: If you don’t drink enough water, there isn’t enough "liquid" in your hoses to make a strong push. This is called dehydration.
Standing Up Too Fast: Sometimes your blood stays in your feet and forgets to rush to your head when you jump up!
Getting Too Hot: Being out in the sun too long can make your pressure drop.
Skipping Meals: Your body needs "fuel" from food to keep the pump strong.
Grown-ups, especially women, sometimes worry about what a "dangerous" number is. Doctors usually say if the top number is lower than 90 or the bottom number is lower than 60, it’s time to be careful.
If someone feels like they might faint (pass out) or if they feel cold and sweaty, that is a "red alert" signal to call a doctor right away!
If you want to help your body stay strong, try these easy tricks:
Be a Water Hero: Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Salt is Okay (Sometimes!): Unlike people with high pressure, people with low pressure might need a tiny bit more salt in their food to help hold onto water. (Ask a doctor first!)
Take Your Time: When you get out of bed, sit on the edge and count to ten before you stand up.
Wear Tight Socks: Some people wear special "squeeze socks" (compression stockings) that help push the blood back up to the heart.
Low blood pressure (hypotension) can be tricky. While the tips above help with mild dizziness, it’s important to find the real cause. Whether it's a heart issue or just needing more fluids, the experts at doctar partner can check your "pump" and make sure everything is working perfectly!
